About the School

Malvern St James School is a leading independent day and boarding school for children aged 3-18. What makes us distinct and refreshing is our recognition and active support of our pupils individual talents, interests and passions.

At MSJ every child is encouraged to explore their interests and passions so they can flourish academically, socially and personally. Our pupils achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level, reflecting the high quality of teaching and support they receive.

Success here is about much more than results. We foster a culture of inclusion and respect, where every pupil feels valued and inspired to follow their own path. Whether their passion lies in horse riding, engineering, politics, environmental studies or climbing, they will find the encouragement and opportunities they need to thrive. This personalised approach lies at the heart of MSJ, helping every child to grow in confidence and reach their full potential.

Who we are

We are a day and boarding school offering the best of both worlds. Approximately 60% of our pupils are day pupils with 40% boarding; flexi, weekly or full boarding. Our staff are innovative and passionate about their work and our pastoral care is award-winning.

At MSJ we nurture a growth mindset, helping pupils to understand that it is not realistic to be brilliant at everything all the time. Mistakes are seen as valuable learning opportunities that lead to future success. We encourage pupils to take intellectual and creative risks, supported by positive feedback and a culture where participation and trying new things are always celebrated.
